Back in the Saddle Again

So I've not posted in quite some time. Though to be fair my new project takes a lot of my time away from me and I love every minute of it. I had been posting about the up coming arrival of our son and on April 22 he decided it was time to make his appearance into the world. We are so blessed with our little man.

It's been quite an adventure the last 2 months, getting him home and getting used to each other. He's quite the amazing little guy though. Loves staring at patterns and colors. Starting to recognize things he's seen more than once.

And he's getting so big! It's hard to believe how much he's grown in only two months. It's hard to believe he's two months old! It's fun to watch him learn and discover new things everyday.

He was baptized on June 13th at The Well Lutheran Church in Palmdale, California. He wore a new christening gown that his Grandma King made him, and his Grandpa Kings baptismal outfit later on. The same one all his uncle wore as well. It was such a special day and we were blessed to have lots of family and friends come and celebrate with us.

One of his favorite things to look at is the wall of the nursery. The harlequin diamonds are his favorite focal point when we're doing diaper changes. Keeps him happy and he just chatters away now.

Currently we are visiting family in Dallas. Micah got to go on his first plane ride and did great. He slept most of the time and woke up just as we were landing. The stewardess gave him some wings and said on the return flight to ask if they have any "My First Flight" certificates. I thought that was cute. He gets to spend the week visiting with his cousin Jonas who we don't get to see as often as we might like.

Up and Down

You expect pregnancy to bring up's and down's emotionally, but sometimes it's just overwhelming. We had found out at the begining of the pregnancy that we had placenta previa. It's an un-nerving feeling knowing that if it doesn't move it will effect your birth plan, but we prayed about it and tried not to worry and now at 30 weeks we found out that it's moved enough that it's out of the low lying range. We were so excited to hear the news, great stuff, but the very next day we get a call that my blood work came back abnormal and now they want to do a 3 hour glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. Wham! Up goes the worry meter again.

I've had a week now to get used to it and I'm finally feeling calm. It is what it is and I know God will be with us and our little miracle through everything.

Energy is finally back to where it was before I got sick, and a week long cold takes more out of you when your pregnant so it took some time before I felt human again. Now that I'm back on my feet again I can continue with preparations for our little man. I've made quite the hole in the nursery and need to finish that, but I don't feel as against the wall as I did before. I think it helps that I've gotten so much done in there already. Once I can get the love seat out and the dresser (we need to paint it anyway) it will really look good. I just need to continue working little by little so it is ready for painting by the end of the month. I have my lazy days, I know I do, but I am making a real effort to get better in that respect.

Fingers crossed we get our Wii Fit Plus today. I'm excited to have something fun to exercise with at home. I can keep track of how often I'm working out and i can choose how intense the work out is. Unfortunatly all the stores have been back ordered that we've been waiting a month or more to get ours, hopefully, if best buy really put it on hold for us, we should get that today. So we'll see I guess.

The journey continues and I can't believe we only have 10 weeks left, 69 days! Wow, it's gone so quickly.

Getting Crafty...

I've been cleaning up around the house, or at least trying to do a little each day, and I've found that I have lots of fabric that I can use for different crafts. Most of it is kinda girlie, but some of it is more boyish. I keep thinking of starting up an Etsy Store to sell burp cloths, diaper bags and changing sets. I've made these things before and they turned out well, but I still feel a little aprehensive about starting something like this. It isn't the time it will take, I worry that people won't be interested and I'll be stuck with 2o something diaperbags, etc. that nobody wants. Perhaps it's just that I need to just take the leap and make 3 or 4 and see how they do online. I could start up a blog for my stuff and post it around on the different craft sites I am part of. I guess I need to just give it a try. If it works great and if not then it must not be what God has planned for me to do.

As far as our little man goes, everything seems to be right on track. He seems to be so active in there some days. I feel like he's running laps or dancing in there. We've decided on Nursery Decor for him. We'll be doing the nursery in Tan, Chocolate Brown, and a Light and Dark Blue. One of the walls will be done in an argyle pattern, the rest will be light blue with tan chair railing and a dark brown bottom wall. The bedding is going to be in the same colors but in a striped pattern fabric that I found at JoAnn's. I need to get my pattern out now and figure out exactly how much fabric I need so that I can get started putting everything together.

The fun thing this week apparently is that we have a mouse. Sasha, our dog, was behaving really oddly and I couldn't figure out what was up with her. Suddenly I saw it out of the corner of my eye, a little brown field mouse. Ugh! We had trouble with mice over the summer and we thought we'd patched up all the holes and ways for them to get in the house, so I'm not sure how they're doing it, but they are. So now it's off the the garage to get the traps to try and catch the mouse. After that rooms will be re-vaccuumed, carpets re-washed, laundry re-cleaned, just in case the mousie did his business anywhere so that we're clean. The baby stuff makes me the most upset. My friend had sent me 2 boxes full of baby clothes that she had washed before she sent it, and I was so excited, but I left it in the boxes on the living room floor because we're still cleaning out the nursery room, and so because it was in the living room it will all need to be washed again. I really don't like mice. I know they serve their purpose, I know Mickey is a cute guy, but really all they do is get in my house and make trouble.

Here's hoping it's only 1 mouse and not more than that. 1 I can handle, more than that and I get creeped out!

New Chapters

So we found out, at the end of September, that we are expecting our first child. It's very exciting, but it's going to mean a lot of work getting everything prepared for our little guy! We found out we'll be having a little boy in May which means we are now half way through our pregnancy. I'm working (slowly) on getting things ready, but I find I have trouble with motivation some days. I'm trying to get better about it, so I'm hoping maybe if I start documenting the progress of the nursery it will keep me excited about working on it.
